One incident in particular, a pileup involving maybe a dozen police vehicles, must be seen to be believed: I've never seen stunt synchronization on this level before.

does not have a strong narrative, but it does not need one. Landis' musical comedy is as much a part of the blues as the blues is of it; the two are as inextricably linked as any picture and its source material can be. It helps that it's as amusing as it is, that it's aged nicely, and that it's as addictive as any early '80s musical comedy could be. Universal's Blu-ray edition is very impressive, even if its supplementary package is a rehash of the DVD's 2005 25th Anniversary Edition. Its visual transmission is excellent (and Landis-approved), and its DTS 5.1 audio is a 768kbps pleasure, despite being a lossy mix. And for less than twenty bucks, it's also reasonably priced. has never looked or sounded better than it does in this location.
