We went through a number of wines from Willamette Valley Vineyards approximately two years ago, including this rosé from the 2018 vintage. Additionally, we had a blind tasting of three of their Pinot Noirs, which was very enjoyable. While we've appreciated Willamette Valley Vineyards' wines, the people behind them are as impressive. On Earth Day this year, I got an email highlighting the vineyard's environmental activities. White grapes are often crushed entire clusters and the juice is separated from the skins before to fermentation to decrease tannins, maintain a greater acidity level, and preserve delicate aromas. During fermentation, red grapes retain their skins. The skin pomace floats to the top of the fermenting tanks, which are typically made of stainless steel. It is periodically pushed down by winemakers in order to maintain touch with the maturing wine. 2007 Vintage 83 / 100 Wine Enthusiast Tasted: January 2008 This young Pinot Noir is entirely carbonic macerated with intact clusters. It's delicate and herbaceous, with a green edge to the tannins. There is little fruit to be found here, and the wine is unappealing. 2006 Vintage 86 / 100 Wine Enthusiast Tasted: January 2007 The fruit leaps to its feet and cries, âdrink me now.â This is a no-frills, unsophisticated party kind of Pinot Noir, but unlike the majority of the cheap California offerings, it has some weight to it. The notes of black cherry and blackberry are prominent, with firm tannins giving a robust basis.

As delightful as a glass of liquid fruit salad, this ruby-colored wine begins with vibrant scents of ripe cherry, blackberry, and chocolate with a touch of earthiness. With the addition of raspberry purée and vanilla, this wine has a lively opening and a luscious mid-palate. A well-balanced and delicate finish, punctuated by invigorating acidity, lingers on the palate long after the sip. Pairings of Food: This wine pairs nicely with sweet and tangy BBQ foods, Asian cuisines such as teriyaki short ribs or sushi, wood-fired flatbreads, and gourmet burgers. On a hot summer evening, serve slightly chilled.
This wine is rich and refreshing; it has aromas of red fruit, including raspberry and strawberry, as well as tropical notes and grapefruit, all complemented by a sharp acidity and a silky texture. This is the kind of wine that will have you going back for more. I'm a firm believer that you can drink and enjoy Ros all year, but it's particularly lovely in the spring, when you're deciding whether to open a red or a white.
