In 1888, National Geographic magazine was launched. It began as a scientific publication sent to the charter's 165 members and has grown to reach 40 million people each month. It is mostly comprised of articles about science, geography, history, and international culture. The magazine started releasing The Complete National Geographic in the late 1990s, a digitized archive of all past issues. He was then sued and temporarily prevented from publishing the magazine as a collaborative production in Greenberg v National Geographic and others. The journal finally resolved its differences, and in July 2009, it started publication of a book that included all themes up to December 2008.
In addition to regular subscriptions, worldwide editions are available on newsstands.
