Jamie Foxx (born Eric Marlon Bishop on December 13, 1967) is an American actor, singer-songwriter, stand-up comedian, and talk radio presenter. As an actor, he won the Academy Award, the BAFTA Award, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in Ray. He is also a Grammy Award-winning artist, having produced two chart-topping albums: Unpredictable (which peaked at #1) and Intuition. Foxx was abandoned seven months after birth and was later adopted and reared in Terrell by Estelle and Mark Talley, his mother's adoptive parents. Foxx was raised in a conservative Baptist home and started piano lessons at the age of five on the advice of his grandmother. He has often cited his grandmother's influence as a major factor for his success. When he discovered that female comedians were often summoned first to perform, he changed his name to Jamie Foxx, believing that the name was sufficiently vague to avoid any prejudices. His surname is a nod to comedian Redd Foxx.

To be fair, Jamie Foxx's first effort at playing Electro failed miserably. While he gave it his best in 2014's ill-fated The Amazing Spider-Man 2, his overblown performance was only one of the film's several flaws. Many felt Foxx's time with Spidey was over, especially with the MCU launching their own Spider-Man trilogy outside of this shorter Sony series. However, similar to Ryan Reynolds' decision to reprise his part as Deadpool in a different film, Foxx surprised us all by announcing that he would reprise his role as this lightning-based enemy in the MCU's next, unnamed Spider-Man sequel. However, it should be emphasized that this representation will seem to be distinct from his previous one. It is presently under production. We'll have to wait and see if Electro's comeback is a breath of fresh air or another burnout. The release date for Spider-Man 3 is set for December 17th, 2021.
