This house has been our home for over 48 years. Our 12' galley kitchen was recently remodeled. I love cooking on my Induction Cooking Surface range, which also has a convection oven; the cafe brown silgranit sink; the warm and quiet DuraCeramic tiled flooring; the LED lighting in the ceiling and under the cabinets, which really brightened up the kitchen; and, while we retained some upper cabinetry over the peninsula, they are shorter and closer to the ceiling, allowing for a better view into the dining area. Additionally, full extension drawers in the base cabinets are a popular choice. LOVE! The peninsula's drawers extend a full 27". The backsplash is a raised hexagonal prism. I love that it's a geometric design but a more contemporary alternative to subway tile, and that each tile's slight raised form catches the light with its glossy finish. The cabinet knobs are rectangular raised prism form to match the backsplash, as are the pulls. (I can't locate the link to this hardware on HD, but I'll check the purchase forms.)
The wall, ceiling, and island all have a strong white tone in this galley kitchen design. Above the island, three light fixtures highlight the room's creative side. They supplemented the space with furniture (a couch and a table), lights, ornamental objects, and artwork (from Hannah Ludnow and David Baumforth). Plants (enough of them) contributed to the softening of the space, the addition of a feeling of well-being, and the connection of the kitchen to the garden. They are overjoyed with the end result of their kitchen makeover, stating, âWe are overjoyed with the end result. We kept the vintage authenticity while adding a light-filled, contemporary shaker open plan kitchen with a WOW factor.â We couldn't be more in agreement.
