And now we understand why Leidseplein is known as Amsterdam's nightlife centre. We had recently reconnected with our Irish relatives from County Down, who had travelled over to spend three days with us in Amsterdam. They flew to Venice four years ago to spend a weekend with us on our three-week trip of Italy. Leidseplein is one of Amsterdam's most famous and busiest squares for nightlife, entertainment, shopping, and its central position for public transportation. It is positioned at the southern end of Amsterdam's central canal ring, just a few feet from from the beautiful Vondelpark's main entrance. This is one of the greatest parks in Amsterdam.
On October 14, 1982, the Belangenvereniging Horeca Leidsebuurt (BHL, Interest Group for HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) Establishments in the Leidsebuurt) was founded. The association's mission is to represent the interests of hospitality and catering enterprises in the entertainment and nightlife sector of Leidseplein. Leidseplein Cafe Bubbels provided the image. There is always a party going on at Caf Bubbels. Every night of the week, beginning at 10:00 p.m., you may dance and dance and dance until you drop.
