I was initially hesitant (as I believe the majority of people were) due to the debacle that was the Avengers game. I didn't think Avengers was completely pointless, but after the storylines are completed, there is nothing else worth doing. This game, on the other hand, is a quantum leap forward. To begin, no microtransactions are permitted. It's a single-player game with just Star Lord available. I'm just about three hours into the game, but the plot is fantastic, the humor is amusing, and the gameplay is very unlike anything else I've played, but it's still enjoyable after you figure it out. The greatest drawback, in my opinion, is the inability to play any of the other Guardians, although even that isn't terrible. That would be good, but not critical. In general, this is a really decent game. I would absolutely suggest it and tell you not to be concerned after all that has happened with the Avengers games.

The Guardians spend the most of the 16 chapters exploring a new planet, spacecraft, or space station, shooting crap, leaping into cutscenes, and resolving environmental riddles using Drax's strength or Rocket's hacking abilities. While stumbling about, I may use one of the shoulder buttons to choose a dialogue choice at critical points, so guiding talks in one way or the other. Occasionally, the game may prompt me with a standard âRocket will remember thisâ prompt, and other times, my input just adds flavor. Combat interrupts the exploration on times, and as Star Lord, it is my responsibility to not only fight but also to lead the rest of the crew. You may acquire additional abilities and enhance the Guardians, such as outfitting Quill with a fun slide that allows him to zoom across the battlefield, but fighting requires nothing more than two clicks. It proves to be just as straightforward as the navigation and problems.

It's enjoyable to play, and the battle keeps the sense of a team effort while being a single-player game. The only true disadvantage is that it is a linear game, which means that replay value is entirely dependent on how much you love viewing other endings to various cut sequences. If you're a fan of the series and don't mind the fact that this version differs from the MCU version, there's a lot to like in MGotG.
