While stretched canvases cannot be sent to CIE, cut and pasted fabric pieces may be painted on. The tiny woven thread mesh may be left alone or hacked at and unraveled, spiraling fine threads into the artwork. Additionally, canvas may be stretched over a solid piece of cardboard by folding the canvas edges under the back of the card and stapled. Tony Fomison provides an illustration:
In just a few easy steps, create a stunning gradient effect on your walls. Begin by painting in dark, medium, and light shades. To achieve hues in between, combine equal portions dark and medium paint; repeat with light and medium colors. As I worked on this color phase, I gradually painted away the snowflakes. I now want to reinstate them! I'll use the exact same Spray brush parameters that I used in the grayscale stage, but this time I'll consider color. I'd want the snowflakes to be somewhat warmer than the blue backdrop. Some snowflakes will be a highly desaturated cyan-ish blue (still warmer than the saturated blue backdrop! ), while others will have a yellow tinge. I found it quite beneficial to use the Spray brush to include some extremely huge particles, which helped approximate a depth-of-field effect! Fig. 41.
