He subsequently related a tale of how, during the age of slavery in the United States, a slaveowner handed freedom to a Black man who was one of his slaves; the guy went on to buy farms and purchase slaves of his own. âNot only was he a slave owner, but he also became a slave breeder, using methods so harsh that even white slave owners said, âYo, my man.â He was an outlaw, but he did what successful people did at the time. †Chappelle inquired as to how someone who was a slave could âperpetuate the same cruelty on someone who looks just like him. It's mind-boggling. And, maybe most astonishingly, they're creating a film about him. Ironically, it is referred to as âSpace Jews.â StandWithUs stated in an October 7 Twitter discussion that although Chappelle's gimmick offends everyone, his statements give a learning opportunity. †âIn his segment on âSpace Jews,â he suggests that Jews collectively chose to leave their nation (because they had âachieved interplanetary travel,â the pro-Israel education group said. âIf the joke had been historically accurate, the âSpace Jewsâ would have been driven away by repressive empires.â
The two met for the first time this past Friday at Chappelle's House of Vans celebration. Dylan filmed the two saying lines from the famed Chappelle's Show comedy (which, of course, opens with the renowned comic repeating Dylan's name five times), as well as Chappelle filming a little ad for Dylan's next album Pain 2 Power. âThose of you who grew up watching me know how huge and incredible this was. This is my first encounter with @chappellercmh. My record will be released on September 15th. I suppose the stars aligned perfectly. Dylan captioned the Instagram video, âBless up to @wyclefjean @diddy and everyone else I reconnected with this year.
