Attorney General Files Antitrust Lawsuit

Inking long-term deals with Apple that oblige Google to serve as the default â and de facto sole â general search engine for Apple's popular Safari browser and other Apple search products. Generally, monopoly earnings are used to purchase preferred treatment for its search engine on devices, web browsers, and other search access points, so perpetuating a self-reinforcing cycle of monopolization.

Amazon's anticompetitive tactics have decreased customer choice in the online retail industry, stifled innovation, and restricted investment in potentially competitive platforms.

OAG is suing Amazon to stop it from using unlawful pricing agreements to stifle competition and protect its monopoly in online retail sales. Additionally, the complaint aims to collect damages and impose sanctions to dissuade Amazon and other firms from engaging in similar activity.

Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Cuomo's complaint.

The complaint contends that Intel paid hundreds of millions, and in some years billions, of dollars in so-called rebates to computer companies such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. Cuomo characterized the incentives as âpayoffs with no valid commercial purposeâ for computer manufacturers that choose to utilize Intel products.
